- To authenticate you and maintain your secure account.
- To determine your subscription status and grant access to premium content.
- To remember your reading progress locally on your device.

- News articles are cached for a maximum of 24 hours and then permanently deleted.
- Your reading history and "All Caught Up" status are stored only on your local device and are never uploaded to our servers.
